Challenge
The main challenge was visualizing complex pharmacogenomic data, including metabolizer types such as Normal, Intermediate, and Rapid, along with drug–drug and food–drug interaction insights. The design needed to present this scientific information in a way that is clear, structured, and easy for users to understand.
Results
The PGx Pharmacogenomics App successfully transformed complex genetic medication data into a clear and user-friendly digital experience. The platform enables users to easily understand their metabolizer status (Normal, Intermediate, Rapid, or Poor) and view important drug–drug and food–drug interaction insights.

Process
Research & Analysis: We conducted user interviews, surveys, and analyzed in-app analytics to understand the pain points and user needs.
To better understand the problem, I explored:
Pharmacogenomics workflows
Healthcare and medication apps
Medical report interpretation challenges
Key Insights:
Healthcare professionals require quick decision-support tools
Clear visual hierarchy improves comprehension of medical information
Users prefer simple explanations for complex medical data
User Flow:
The application was designed around a simple and intuitive workflow.
User Journey
User opens the application
Scans medication using OCR technology
System identifies the medicine
Displays drug–gene interaction insights
Shows food–drug interaction warnings
Provides personalized medication guidance
The goal was to ensure fast and easy access to important medication insights.
Wireframing & Prototyping: We designed low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the layout.
User Interface:
The UI was designed to provide a clean and trustworthy healthcare experience.
Design highlights:
Simple medical interface
Clear visual hierarchy for medical insights
Easy-to-read interaction alerts
Mobile-first layout for accessibility
Colors and typography were selected to ensure clarity, reliability, and readability.
Usability Testing: We conducted usability tests with a diverse group of users to validate the design and identify areas for improvement. Based on the feedback, we made necessary adjustments to the design.
Outcome: The PGx app successfully simplifies complex pharmacogenomics data into clear and actionable insights.
Impact:
Improved accessibility to genetic medication information
Simplified interpretation of pharmacogenomics reports
Enhanced awareness of medication interactions
